Watch Review of the Tudor Royal 41mm Blue Dial
Share
As an 18 year who old who is obsessed with watches, there could only be one present that could for fill my 18 birthday wish. Previously, I owned an Emporia Armani Chronograph stainless steel 43mm but it was definitely time to ramp it up a little, or maybe a lot. Tudor was a brand that fascinated me due to its precision within its advertising and creation of their luxury watches. Owned by Rolex, Tudor is a perfect brand to start your watch collection with, however, do not underestimate the power and luxury Tudor holds. Tudor has introduced some beautiful pieces over the last couple of months, specifically the Black Bay 41mm with a jubilee type bracelet. Sadly, most of Tudor's watches start within the price range of £3000 - £5000 and this was way over my budget. However, after setting my eyes on the Tudor Royal collection, I was swayed to go with this watch. What more could an 18year old ask for to start of his watch collection. A timepiece that expresses the luxury and importance of the day-date combination and signifies elegance whilst on the wrist.
The watch itself
Inspired by the famous Rolex day-date, the Tudor Royal takes us back to the 1970s, where fashion lay on the wrist. Firstly, the Tudor Royal 41mm Navy Dial is €2,210 and, in my opinion, this is excellently priced for this luxury timepiece. The Royal's face is plain and simple with its shining roman numerals the strong Tudor sign. The Tudor Royal is simple to manage in terms of winding, as this is an automatic watch with a power reserve of 38 hours and the crown is easy to screw. The bracelet of the watch is a beautifully polished, integrated bracelet which in my opinion adds more flair and excitement to the timepiece. I chose the 41mm due to its day and date complications which catches the eye from a further distance and adds more value to the watch.
However, 41mm is quite large for someone with small wrists like myself and the 38mm alternative sits nicely on any wrists however it does not include the day complication which swayed my decision.
This sport and dress watch is also perfectly suited for any item of clothing. The watch is versatile in the way it can be worn with a suit which is a perfect opportunity to show off its elegance to the crowd and the watch would also look classy with a summer set on.
Its roman numerals shine in the sun and the notched and polished bezel gives it the perfect shine it needs.
Overall, I believe it was a perfect decision for myself as I am in love with the watch and cannot take it off. I believe all watch collections should be diverse and versatile and this watch is the perfect addition for a watch collector like myself. Tudor hit a no brainer with the production of this classy, old-school timepiece as it allows collectors and customers like me to have an insight into the luxury watch market without having to have a large budget, which is something I admire about the brand itself.
Stay tuned for more watch articles and reviews, and as always, thank you for reading.
